The Function of the UV Printer Ink Pump
Ink Supply:
The ink pump delivers ink from the main ink cartridge to the printheads, ensuring continuous and stable inkjet printing.
Pressure Control:
The pump maintains appropriate ink supply pressure within the system to prevent uneven inkjet printing caused by ink starvation or overpressure.
Ink Circulation:
Some UV printers use a recirculating ink system, in which the ink pump promotes ink circulation and prevents sedimentation and clogging.
Cleaning:
During printhead cleaning, the ink pump reverses direction to draw out cleaning fluid or ink, helping to unclog the nozzles.

Why does roll to roll UV printer require a dedicated ink pump?
The ink used in UV printers differs from ordinary water-based inks. UV inks contain a higher concentration of chemical components and are somewhat corrosive.
Therefore, a UV printer ink pump must possess the following properties:
Corrosion Resistance:
The pump body and diaphragm must be made of acid-, alkali-, and solvent-resistant engineering plastics or rubber to prevent degradation from prolonged contact with UV ink.
Stable ink supply:
The ink pump must ensure continuous ink delivery from the ink bottle to the sub-tank during printing, maintaining negative pressure inside the printhead to prevent ink leaks or ink shortages.
Pressure and flow:
Select an ink pump with appropriate specifications based on the number of printheads and ink circuit design to ensure stable ink supply.

Ink pump maintenance and care
Regular cleaning: During extended downtime, clean the ink circuit with a dedicated cleaning fluid to prevent residual ink from solidifying inside the pump.
Avoid idling: Idling can damage the diaphragm or motor, shortening the life of the pump.
Inspect the piping: Regularly check the hoses connecting the pump for aging, leaks, or blockages.
Appropriate use of cleaning fluid: Use the manufacturer’s recommended cleaning fluid to avoid corrosion and performance degradation.
