How To Solve DTF T-shirt Printing Problems ?

DTF T-shirt Printing is an efficient and flexible printing method. Common problems include: 1. White ink stratification 2. Ink stains or ink overflow 3. Unstable ink reaction and distorted pattern These problems often trouble many users. This article will provide solutions to these common problems to help you improve production efficiency and printing quality.

White ink stratification problem

Cause analysis

White ink precipitation: The pigment particles in white ink are large, and it is easy to precipitate if not used for a long time, resulting in ink stratification. Uneven stirring: The ink is not fully stirred, which directly affects the printing quality.

Solution

Shake the white ink regularly. Be sure to shake the white ink thoroughly before use. It is recommended to use an electric stirrer to ensure that the ink is fully mixed to avoid sediment accumulation. Timed stirring system For equipment that runs for a long time, a timed stirring system can be installed to ensure that the white ink does not precipitate. Reasonable maintenance of the equipment ensures smooth ink flow in the printer and regular cleaning, especially the ink pipes and nozzles.

Ink smears or DTF printing ink overflow

Cause analysis

Clogged or improperly calibrated nozzles: Clogged or inaccurately calibrated nozzles may cause ink to drip or spray unevenly during printing. Improper fabric handling: If the fabric is not completely cooled after heat pressing or is stacked too tightly, it may cause ink smears. Environmental factors: The temperature and humidity of the environment will affect the curing effect of the ink. If the ambient temperature is too low or the humidity is too high, the ink curing speed will slow down, resulting in smears. Unreasonable ink flow setting: Too much or too little ink flow may cause smears or ink overflow problems.

Cause analysis

Clean the nozzle regularly Use a dedicated nozzle cleaning fluid to clean the nozzle regularly to avoid clogging. The nozzle should be checked once a week and cleaned as necessary. Calibrate the nozzle to ensure that the nozzle is aligned and calibrated correctly. Use the nozzle calibration function that comes with the printer to ensure that the ink sprays evenly and without overflow. Properly handle the fabric After heat pressing, let the fabric cool completely before handling or packaging. Avoid stacking printed fabrics too tightly to prevent ink smears.

Optimize the printing environment to ensure that the temperature and humidity of the printing environment are appropriate. If the ambient temperature is too low, you can use an air conditioner or heater to increase the temperature. Adjust the ink flow rate According to different materials and printing requirements, adjust the ink flow rate and printing speed to avoid smudge problems caused by too much or too little ink.

Unstable ink reaction and distorted pattern

Cause analysis

Uneven ink composition: Low-quality ink may contain uneven pigments or additives. Which prevents the ink from being evenly distributed during printing, resulting in inconsistent colors, color differences or mottled colors. Thus affecting the overall effect of the picture. Changes in ink viscosity: The viscosity of the ink may change due to improper storage conditions (such as high temperature, high humidity) or expiration. Ink with too high or too low viscosity will affect the jetting performance of the nozzle, resulting in inconsistent ink droplet size. Which in turn affects the clarity and color performance of the picture. Ink is incompatible with the material: The ink is incompatible with the transfer film or target material. Which may cause the ink to fail to adhere properly. Which may cause the pattern to blur, fade or fall off during the transfer process, affecting the clarity and color performance of the picture.

Solution

Use high-quality ink Choose a well-known brand and select high-quality DTF ink that has been verified by the market to ensure its chemical stability and compatibility. Check the ink shelf life to ensure that the ink is not expired and store the ink according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Choose the right transfer film Choose a high-quality transfer film to ensure that the coating is uniform and flawless, ensure that the transfer film is used within the shelf life. And avoid using expired transfer films.

Transfer film jams or does not feed

Cause analysis

The direct-to-film heat transfer printer transfer film tension is too large or too small: If the film tension is not properly controlled. It may cause paper feeding to be unsmooth and jamming problems.

The paper supply system is not smooth. The paper supply system is not clean or mechanical problems (such as roller wear) may cause the film to not feed smoothly.

Solution

Adjust the transfer film tension to check whether the tension of the paper supply system is appropriate. Generally, the tension of the transfer film should be adjusted to moderate, avoid being too loose or too tight. Besides, ensure that the film can feed smoothly. Clean the paper supply system Check the paper supply system (such as rollers, paper trays, etc.) regularly, clean dust or ink residue. And ensure the smoothness of the paper feeding system.  And ensure the normal operation of the paper supply system.
