UV 3D Sticker Printer : 8 Things to Know Before You Buy

Also known as UV 3D Sticker, these can achieve special effects such as glossy finishes, clear varnish highlights, and color gradients. They are becoming increasingly popular for school uniforms, team gear, bags, and branded merchandise.

FAQs about UV-printed 3D silicone-effect labels:

Q1: How do I choose the thickness for UV-printed 3D silicone-effect labels?

Common thicknesses range from 20 to 100 microns (0.02–0.10 mm). Greater thickness creates a more pronounced relief effect, but excessive thickness can reduce flexibility and increase the risk of cracking.

Q2: What is the heat-pressing temperature? Does the layer structure (Color-White-Color) matter?

The standard temperature is 130–155°C for 12 seconds. But for thicker relief layers, the temperature can increase to approximately 5°C.

Q3: Are UV-printed silicone-effect labels washable?

Prolonged washing is not recommended. Besides, they are also not suitable for areas subject to constant stretching or heavy friction.

Q4: What materials can they be applied to? So, is the heat-pressing process the same for all?

They can apply it to cotton, polyester, leather, synthetic leather, and bag materials. The surface simply needs to be flat and heat-resistant.

Q5: How are relief, glossy, and clear varnish effects achieved?

Relief: White ink layering (stacking).

Glossy/High-light: UV varnish layer. They don’t require molds.  This is a key advantage of the UV printing process.

Q6: What is the production process?

① UV Printing: Color-White-Color layering + special effect processing. ② Automatic contour cutting: Creating individual labels. ③ Heat-press setting: 130–155°C for 10–15 seconds (adjust temperature and time based on the specific film used).

Q7: What are the best use cases?

Complex patterns with multiple colors (gradients, anime, illustrations); But small-batch production (10 samples, or runs of dozens to hundreds);  Projects requiring 3D, glossy, or foil-stamping textures.

Q8: How do I choose the base film for UV DTF printing silicone-effect labels?

①Silicone film (Mainstream choice)

Excellent elasticity and a soft, skin-friendly feel; retains shape when stretched; low-temperature resistant; ideal for apparel and sportswear.

② PU film

Commonly used for lightweight, thin products; soft and form-fitting, though slightly less elastic.

③ TPU film

Flexible and elastic; offers excellent value for money.

④ PVC film

Slightly less elastic, but offers high flatness and resists edge curling; suitable for bags and items requiring a stiff, structured feel.
