As we all know, large format thermal sublimation printing is becoming more and more popular. But there is a problem: because sublimation paper can not be completely dried in time, the production efficiency is not as fast as traditional dyeing. Even if the thermal sublimation plotter can print very quickly, this problem will slow down the production process. Today’s article will introduce the factors that determine the drying time of sublimation paper.
When we use high-speed printers, the drying timer of heavy sublimation paper will be slower than that of light paper. The speed of sublimating ink is too fast to match well with thick paper. However, this problem can be solved by using low weight sublimation paper. The advantage of light digital sublimation paper is its super fast ink absorption and drying speed.
Sublimation ink
Some customers prefer to buy cheap digital sublimation ink to save costs. The main component is water, not sublimated dye. So, in fact, you are printing water on thermal sublimation transfer paper instead of thermal paper. There is no doubt that the paper is drying slowly, too?
Temperature and humidity
The drying time is related to the printing temperature and relative humidity. The recommended printing temperature for sublimation paper is usually 25℃ (77 ° f). The relative humidity is 53%. However, each country has a different climate. Colombia, for example, has a rainy season every year. Due to high humidity in rainy season, the drying speed of thermal sublimation paper may be slower than that in other seasons. Therefore, sublimation papers work differently in different countries / regions under different climate types.
These are some of the reasons I share that will affect the drying time of sublimation paper.
