Why Is the DTF Powder Not Clean When the DTF Film Is Shaken?

In the field of digital printing, the position of DTF printers is as solid as a rock. Its main work flow is to sprinkle powder, shake powder, and dry.

First, sprinkle the hot melt adhesive powder evenly on the pattern, then shake off the excess hot melt powder, and finally dry the hot stamping pattern sprinkled with hot melt powder. After understanding the basic operating steps of the powder shaker, let’s analyze the reasons why the powder is not clean.

Ink quality problem

If the white ink is too thin and the water content is high, it is easy to cause ink flow (the oil and water of the white ink seep beyond the edge of the pattern), which will cause too much hot melt powder to stick to the edge of the pattern when shaking the powder. You can observe: If there are water stains around the printed film pattern before applying powder, it can be determined that it is an ink problem.

Solution:

Replacing the ink or pre-drying before sprinkling powder can improve this condition.

DTF pet film problem:

If the powder sticking problem is improved after changing to another heat transfer film under the same consumables and the same production environment. Then it is very likely that the heat transfer film is of poor quality, unqualified, or the compatibility of this heat transfer film with the ink is not good enough.

Solution: Replacing the appropriate heat transfer film can solve this problem.

Hot melt powder problem:

If the hot melt powder is damp, it will stick to the powder and become a ball. And there will be obvious glue edges on the edge of the pattern.

Solution: The hot melt powder needs to be treated with moisture-proof. Or the damp powder should be slightly dried before sifting and adding it to the powder shaking machine.

Weather and environmental problems:

Due to weather reasons, the air humidity is too high, which will cause the white ink to dry slowly. And the white ink is too wet, which will cause too much hot melt powder to stick to the edge of the pattern, forming powder edges and glue edges. The solution is to choose a printer with a front drying system and a DTF powder-shaking machine.

Static electricity problem:

If the machine is not grounded, the static electricity of the heat transfer film is large when the weather is dry. And the problem of powder sticking is easy to occur. Connecting the machine to the ground wire can improve it.
